The High Ropes Adventure Course offers a new and exciting experience like no other in Hattiesburg. The four-story ropes course is designed for kids and adults alike to enjoy a fun and challenging experience.
Open Friday – Sunday during open Zoo hours.
Tickets are for 30-minute increments. Patrons must pay regular Zoo admission to access the ropes course
Hattiesburg Zoo’s electric train came on board in February 2022 in partnership with Mississippi Power. This green path forward allows for a reduction in the Zoo’s environmental footprint as the train is fully electric, zero-emissions, and clean energy. Guests continue to enjoy their ride around the perimeter of the Zoo, but in an eco-friendlier manner.
Train tickets are $3 per person. Rides begin at 10:30 a.m. and the last train ride of the day is at 4:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the Zoo Ticket Booth or online.
On hot Summer days, the Splash Pad is the place to be! Pack your towels and sunscreen and beat the heat with us!
Kids will love this playground featuring a giant anthill to slide down, tunnels to climb through, and other play equipment!
Transport yourself to the Australian Outback and take a stroll with our pals from down under. This petting zoo style attraction features furry friends such as wallabies, a KuneKune pig, and emus. The Australian Wallaby Walkabout is located just a stone’s throw away from the High Adventure Ropes Course.
Hoof Stop offers guests the unforgettable opportunity to hang out with native African animals such as Nigerian Dwarf Goats. Kids will love the chance to pet and feed our docile African pals!
Giraffe Feedings – Chew, chew, chew your food!
Giraffe Feedings take place daily from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the Hattiesburg Zoo. Participants will receive two pieces of lettuce or one branch of browse to feed the two zoo giraffes from the Giraffe Feeding Platform. A Zoo Docent or member of the giraffe care team will be on site to visit with guests, share giraffe facts and talk about the two Hattiesburg Zoo residents Grace and Alberta.
This constantly moving experience is available for all zoo guests within a one-hour timeframe.
Giraffe Feedings tickets can be purchased at Ladha’s Market located under the Giraffe Pavilion. This animal experience is weather dependent.
The Hattiesburg Zoo’s carousel is a 1941 British-made Arrow Carousel, which traveled throughout the country for people to enjoy. It originally made its home outside the Zoo at Kamper Park, but was moved to its current location in 2013 when it was refurbished and new carousel animals were added. Carousel tickets are $2 per person. Rides begin at 10:45 a.m. and the last ride of the day is at 3:45 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the Zoo Entrance.
The Anteater & Capybara Feeding Experience is held Saturdays at 11:00 a.m. at the Hattiesburg Zoo. Guests will enter the habitat area and have the opportunity to feed “Fred” the anteater his daily diet through a clear graduated cylinder so they can enjoy watching him strategically use his long, sticky tongue to grab his food — the reward for his patience and diligence.
Guests will also meet and feed the Zoo’s friendly capybaras while learning more about the world’s largest rodents, including their natural behaviors, social personalities, habitats, diets, and fascinating adaptations. Animal care team members will share interesting facts and behind-the-scenes tidbits about both the anteaters’ and capybaras’ unique personalities, likes, and dislikes.
This 30–40-minute encounter is available for guests ages 4 and up. The ticket price for all participants is $35 and does not include Zoo admission. Youth ages 4–10 require the oversight of a paying guardian or adult.
Please note, the anteater habitat has rough terrain as anteaters dig holes to find prey. Please plan accordingly.

Six guests will enjoy the Anteater & Capybara Feeding Experience each week. Tickets are available for purchase at the Zoo’s ticket office on a first-come, first-served basis on the day of the experience.
The South American Yard Experience takes place Sundays at 11:00 a.m. at the Hattiesburg Zoo. Guests will enter the South America Yard accompanied by a knowledgeable member of our animal care team who will share information about the yard’s habitants, which include Alpacas and Capybaras. Guests will have the opportunity to feed the animals a lettuce-based diet and strategically place enrichment in the habitat for the animals to enjoy. Learn how Alpacas and Capybaras get along with one another and understand how they live and thrive in their natural environments.
This 30 – 40-minute encounter is available for those age 6 and up. The ticket price for participants is $35 and does not include Zoo admission. The South America Yard does contain a small pool. Youth ages 6 – 10 require the oversight of a paying guardian or adult.
South America Yard Experience guests will also receive 10% off the purchase of merchandise in the Zoo’s gift shop.
Six guests will enjoy the South America Yard Experience each week. Tickets are available for purchase at the Zoo’s ticket booth on a first-come, first-served basis the day of the experience.
The Giraffe Experience takes place Sundays at 2:00 p.m. at the Hattiesburg Zoo. Giraffe lovers will be amazed by this experience that will be led by one of our Giraffe care team members. Meet Alberta and Grace in this one-on-one encounter. Participants will learn about the diet, natural instincts and daily routine of giraffes. Take the opportunity to tour the giraffe barn, which is a special treat as participants will understand how the barn was constructed specifically to accommodate and care for the world’s tallest land mammal. Feeding the giraffes will be a highlight whether done in their outside habitat or inside the barn.
This 45 – 50-minute encounter is available for those age 6 and up (due to height restrictions on the giraffe barn catwalk). The ticket price for all participants is $50 and does not include zoo admission. Youth ages 6 – 10 require the oversight of a paying guardian or adult.

Eight guests will enjoy the Giraffe Experience each week. Tickets are available for purchase at the Zoo’s ticket both on a first-come, first-served basis the day of the experience.
The Sloth Experience takes place Saturdays at 1:00 p.m. at the Hattiesburg Zoo. Get up close and personal with an adorable, slow-moving sloth during the Sloth Experience at Hattiesburg Zoo. Guests will have the opportunity to observe and pet one of the zoo’s beloved sloths while they hang upside down on their perch. Participants can also prepare food and hand feed the sloth, one of their many favorite snacks. A member of the animal care team will talk with guests about the normal routines and habits of sloths living in the wild as well as share some fun facts about the zoo’s resident sloths.
This 30-35-minute Sloth Experience is available for those ages 4 and up. The ticket price is $50 for all participants and does include zoo admission. Youth ages 4 – 15 require the oversight of a paying guardian or adult. Meet up at Zawadis Market for this experience.
