Electric TRAIN

Hattiesburg Zoo’s electric train came on board in February 2022 in partnership with Mississippi Power. This green path forward allows for a reduction in the Zoo’s environmental footprint as the train is fully electric, zero-emissions, and clean energy. Guests continue to enjoy their ride around the perimeter of the Zoo, but in an eco-friendlier manner.

Train tickets are $3 per person. Rides begin at 10:30 a.m. and the last train ride of the day is at 4:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the Zoo Entrance or Zawadi Market.

On hot Summer days, the Splash Pad is the place to be! Pack your towels and sunscreen and beat the heat with us.

Cabanas by the Splash Pad are available to rent (done at the Safari Grill), complete with shade and free WiFi.

Cabana Rentals: First hour – $20 | Additional hour – $15

Kids will love this playground featuring a giant anthill to slide down, a spider’s rope web made for climbing, and an oversized snail shell for the perfect photo opportunity.

Transport yourself to the Australian Outback and take a stroll with our pals from down under. This petting zoo style attraction features furry friends such as wallabies, a KuneKune pig, and emus. The Australian Wallaby Walkabout is located just a stone’s throw away from the High Adventure Ropes Course.

Touch Africa offers guests the unforgettable opportunity to hang out with native African animals such as Nigerian Dwarf Goats, Miniature Zebu, and Tunisian Sheep. Kids will love the chance to pet and feed our docile African pals.

Giraffe Feedings

Giraffe feedings take place daily at 11:00 am due to hot temperatures from the Giraffe Feeding Platform MJUMBE WA MUNGU on the days the zoo is open. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased the day of the giraffe feeding at the mobile gift station located under the Giraffe Pavilion. There are 15 spaces available for feedings each day.

On colder days of the year, giraffe feedings will be held inside the barn. Giraffe feedings in the barn can accommodate eight guests, and all guests must be above 8 years of age. If weather conditions require an indoor giraffe feeding, children must be 48″ tall to participate.

Sloth Experience

The Sloth Experience at the Hattiesburg Zoo allows guests to have a one-on-one experience with our sloths while giving zoo staff the opportunity to provide more educational information on these animals.

The 30-minute Sloth Experience will accommodate 10 people at a cost of $50 per person and include preparation of the sloths’ diet, feeding and petting the sloth. These guests will also receive 20% off the purchase of sloth merchandise in the Zoo’s gift shop. Participants under the age of 15 must have a paying adult accompany them for the experience (both the child and the adult must have a paid ticket for the experience).

Sloth Experiences take place Saturdays and Sundays at 1:00 p.m., all year long.

Zoo admission is included with the purchase of your Sloth Experience.
